The electoral results show a significant increase for KKE, compared to both the results at the General Elections of last March and those at the European Elections of 1999. The increase is especially noticeable at the main urban centers of the country

Compared to the March 2004 results, ND has a slight decrease while PASOK counts important loses, but the overall sum of these two parties still remains high.

Rizospastis commenting the electoral results, notes that the ballots deliver a strong message of discontent, of popular disaffection and condemnation of the imperialist wars, and the anti-popular policies promoted by EU and the national governments.

The first three candidates in the list of KKE for the European Elections are comrades:

1. PAFILIS Thanasis, General Secretary of World Peace Council, General Secretary of the Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace, Prefecture Councilor of Athens. Member of the CC of KKE.

2. TOUSSAS Giorgos. Unionist, Chairman of the Panellenic Union of Mechanics of Merchant Marine. Member of the CC of KKE.

3. MANOLAKOU Diamanto. Agricultural Engineer. Member of the CC of KKE and Responsible for the Section of European Policy of KKE.
