The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece sends you a warm comradely greeting for the 50th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

From the arrival of the Granma to the triumph and continuing on to the defeat of armed imperialist invasion at Playa Giron, socialist construction, resistance to the criminal blockade, resistance to the incredible difficulties of the “special period,” the trajectory of these 50 years is full of heroic pages of patience and revolutionary resistance written by the working class and the Cuban people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba.

The Cuban revolution has provided great internationalist assistance to national liberation movements and peoples in struggle. Your internationalist revolutionaries have given up their own lives for people’s liberty. Now even today, millions of people in Latin America are no longer illiterate; they have regained their vision, health, and life itself thanks to contributions from Cuba.

Above all in difficult times for peoples after the Soviet Union was dismantled and European socialism defeated, socialist Cuba’s existence and successful resistance to imperialist provocations and aggressions have represented a great contribution to people’s anti imperialist resistance and struggle. Defending the flag of socialism, Cuba has made it so that hope stays alive, teaching that imperialism is powerful, but not invincible, that there is an alternative to capitalist barbarism, which is socialism.

Valued Comrades!

The Greek communists and broad sectors of the Greek people observe with much interest the efforts that you are making to improve the living conditions of the Cuban people, to confront your problems associated with conditions of the iron blockade imposed by the United States and the world economic crisis and immense natural dangers causing hurricanes.

Our thoughts are above all with the five heroes about to pass a new year most unjustly imprisoned in the United States, far from their country, their family, and their children. We commit ourselves to mobilize even more strongly for their liberation, for the lifting of the blockade, for the rejection of every open or covert effort to intervene or undermine socialist Cuba on the part of U. S. and European Union imperialism.

Cuba is not alone. It never has been alone. Standing fast to communist principles and values- despite the difficulties and detours they impose – and to firm defense of national sovereignty and socialism inspires millions of workers throughout the world. The figures of revolutionary leaders, of Fidel, Che, Cienfuegos, Frank Pais, Raul and so many heroes of the Revolution inspire broad sectors of youth. As much as imperialism harps on victories, the end of history has not arrived and peoples have not stayed put with their arms crossed.

Whatever the twists of the class struggle and the revolutionary movement, whatever difficulties, defeats, and retreats may arise, nothing can stop socialism and communism, that is to say, the historical road toward a new society, free of class – based exploitation and repression.

La Habana Estimados camaradas:

El Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Grecia les envía un caluroso saludo camaradería para el 50 aniversario del triunfo de la Revolución.

Desde la llegada del Granma hasta el triunfo y a continuación la derrota de la invasión armada del imperialismo en la Playa Girón, la construcción socialista, la resistencia al bloqueo criminal, la resistencia a las dificultades increíbles del “período especial”, el trayecto de estos 50 años de la Revolución Cubana está lleno de páginas heroicas, de paciencia y resistencia revolucionarias, escritas por la clase obrera y el pueblo cubano bajo la dirección del PCC.

La Revolución Cubana ha dado una gran ayuda internacionalista a movimientos nacional-liberadores y pueblos en lucha, y los revolucionarios internacionalistas han entregado hasta su propia vida por la libertad de los pueblos. Incluso hoy en día, gracias a la contribución de Cuba, millones de personas en América Latina han salido del analfabetismo, han reconquistado su visión, su salud, su propia vida.

Sobre todo en los momentos difíciles para los pueblos después del desmantelamiento de la Unión Soviética y del derrocamiento del socialismo en Europa, la existencia de Cuba Socialista y la exitosa resistencia a las provocaciones y agresiones  imperialistas han sido una gran aportación a la resistencia y lucha de los pueblos contra el imperialismo. Defendiendo la bandera del socialismo, Cuba ha contribuido para que se mantenga viva la esperanza: Sí, el imperialismo es fuerte, pero no es invencible. Sí, hay una alternativa a la barbarie capitalista, y esa es el socialismo.

Estimados camaradas:

Los comunistas griegos y amplios sectores del pueblo griego observan con mucho interés los esfuerzos que hacen para mejorar el nivel de vida del pueblo cubano, para enfrentar sus problemas en condiciones del bloqueo férreo impuesto por los Estados Unidos, de la crisis económica mundial y los inmensos daños naturales que han causado los huracanes.

Nuestro pensamiento está sobre todo cerca de los 5 héroes que van a pasar un nuevo año más injustamente encarcelados en los Estados Unidos, lejos de su patria, su familia y sus hijos. Nos comprometemos movilizarnos aún más fuerte por su liberación, por el levantamiento del bloqueo, por el rechazo de cada esfuerzo abierto o cubierto de intervención o de socavar Cuba Socialista por parte del imperialismo de los Estados Unidos o de la Unión Europea.

Cuba no está sola. Nunca ha estado sola. La entrega a los principios y valores comunistas, independientemente de las dificultades y los rodeos que imponen, la defensa firme de la soberanía nacional y del socialismo, inspiran a millones de trabajadores en todo el mundo. Las figuras de los dirigentes de la Revolución, de Fidel, del Che, de Cienfuegos, de Frank País, de Raúl y de tantos héroes de la Revolución, inspiran a amplios sectores de la juventud. Por más que se precipitó cantar victorias el imperialismo, el fin de la historia no ha llegado, los pueblos no se han quedado con los brazos cruzados.

Cualesquiera sean los virajes de la lucha de clases y del movimiento revolucionario, cualesquiera sean las dificultades, las derrotas y los retrocesos, nada puede parar el camino histórico hacia una nueva sociedad, libre de la explotación y represión clasistas, el socialismo-comunismo.
