Dear Comrades:
It is with great sadness that we received your message informing us of the death of Comrade Manuel Marulanda Velez, who for over 44 years has been a leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People’s Army (FARC-EP ).
The revolutionary movement of Colombia and throughout Latin America has lost a prestigious fighter and a revolutionary whose name and life have been linked to the struggle against imperialism, for social liberation and socialism, and whose contributions were decisive for the growth of anti-imperialist movements that have developed in recent years in Latin America. The best tribute that we can pay to honor his memory is to continue the struggle to its final victory.
Our Party remains firmly supportive of the struggle waged by the FARC-EP and by the popular movement of Colombia, which is, after all, for peace with social justice. This struggle is all the more relevant today that it is waged in a situation of escalating aggressiveness of the reactionary regime of Uribe and of U.S. imperialism. We support the struggle for recognition of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People’s Army (FARC-EP) as a belligerent force, for the immediate withdrawal of the name of the FARC-EP from the list of terrorist organizations established by the Union European and for progress towards the signing of the humanitarian agreement on exchanging prisoners, that the regime Uribe refuses.
Please convey to all comrades and all combatants FARC-EP our jost sincere condolences and our revolutionary greetings.

Con mucha tristeza recibijos su mensaje comunicándonos la muerte del camarada Manuel Marulanda Vélez, líder de las FARC-EP por más de 44 años.
El movimiento revolucionario de Colombia y de toda América Latina perdió a un luchador destacado y un revolucionario cuyo nombre y vida han sido vinculados con la lucha contra el imperialismo, por la liberación social y el socialismo, que ha tenido una contribución decisiva al crecimiento de los movimientos antiimperialistas que se desarrollan en los últijos años en América Latina. La continuación de la lucha hasta la victoria final es el mejor homenaje a su memoria.
Nuestro Partido sigue firmemente solidario con la lucha que libran las FARC-EP y el movimiento popular en Colombia en general por la paz con justicia social. Esta lucha es aún más actual hoy en las condiciones de escalamiento la agresividad del régimen reaccionario de Uribe y del imperialismo norteamericano. Apoyajos la lucha por que se reconozcan como fuerza beligerante y por que salgan de inmediato las FARC-EP de la lista de las organizaciones terroristas de la Unión Europea y que avance el acuerdo humanitario sobre el intercambio de prisioneros que niega el régimen uribista.
Les rogajos que transmitan a todos los camaradas y combatientes de las FARC-EP nuestro más profundo pésame y nuestros saludos revolucionarios.
