Solidarity with the Communist Party of Venezuela

The Party of Labour of Austria (PdA), together with the Youth Front of the Party of Labour (JF), held a rally in front of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Vienna on 9 June. The Party of Labour and the Youth Front demanded an end to the repression against the Communist Party of Venezuela.

The Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Austria also sent a letter to the Venezuelan Ambassador underlining the Party’s solidarity with the PCV. The letter was also read out at the rally:

“Dear Ambassador,

The Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Austria observes with great concern the attacks of the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela against the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV). We reject in the clearest terms the allegation that the party is collaborating with US imperialism. The Communist Party of Venezuela has stood and continues to stand firmly with the Venezuelan people and their struggle against imperialist intervention in Venezuela.

The Communist Party of Venezuela is part of the international communist movement. As such, it defends the interests of the Venezuelan working class and people. The Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Austria condemns the attacks on the independence of the PCV, which culminated in a staged “extraordinary party congress” on 28 May 2023. All these attacks aim to disempower the legitimate leadership of the PCV elected at the last Party Congress and to de facto illegalise the Party.

These attacks on the Communist Party of Venezuela are also an attack on the international communist movement. The Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Austria demands an end to these undemocratic and anti-communist attacks in Venezuela. We will continue to work with the leadership of the Venezuelan Communist Party elected at the last ordinary Party Congress. The “elected leadership” of the PCV on 28 May has no legitimacy at all.

Declaración de solidaridad con el Partido Comunista de Venezuela

El Partido del Trabajo de Austria (PdA), junto con el Frente de la Juventud del PdA (JF), celebró una concentración frente a la Embajada de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela en Viena el 9 de junio. El PdA y el JF exigieron el fin de la represión contra el Partido Comunista de Venezuela.

El comité central del PdA también envió una carta al embajador venezolano subrayando la solidaridad del partido con el PCV. La carta también fue leída en el mitin:

Estimado Embajador,

El Comité Central del Partido del Trabajo de Austria observa con gran preocupación los ataques del gobierno de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela contra el Partido Comunista de Venezuela (PCV). Rechazamos en los términos más claros la acusación de que el partido está colaborando con el imperialismo estadounidense. El PCV ha estado y sigue estando firmemente junto al pueblo venezolano y su lucha contra la intervención imperialista en Venezuela.

El PCV forma parte del movimiento comunista internacional. Como tal, defiende los intereses de la clase obrera y del pueblo venezolano. El comité central del PdA condena los ataques contra la independencia del PCV, que culminaron en un “congreso extraordinario del partido” escenificado el 28 de mayo de 2023. Todos estos ataques tienen como objetivo desempoderar a la dirección legítima del PCV elegida en el último congreso del partido e ilegalizar de facto el partido.

Estos ataques al PCV son también un ataque al movimiento comunista internacional. El comité central del PdA exige el fin de estos ataques antidemocráticos y anticomunistas en la República Bolivariana. Seguiremos trabajando con la dirección del PCV elegida en el último congreso ordinario del partido. La “dirección elegida” del PCV el 28 de mayo no tiene ninguna legitimidad.
