The World Federation of Trade Unions, the militant voice of 95 million workers in 130 countries all over the world, expresses its strong rejection of the decision of the American President, Donald Trump, to authorize this Thursday the border security troops to shoot at the migrant’s caravan from Central America.
At the same time, the North American authority has announced the creation of a legal mechanism in order to avoid the issuance of asylum for the travelers from Honduras and El Salvador. At the same time, it will promote the creation of camps in different spots at the borders with Mexico.
These xenophobic and reactionary decisions of the US bourgeois government cultivate racism and hatred, hiding the true reasons for the migration. In other words, they do not say anything about the looting by the North American monopolies and the multinationals and their expropriation of the resources of Latin America. They do not say anything about the wars and the military dictatorships which the United States has financed and supported in the Americas. They do not say anything about the imperialist wars that NATO and its allies have unleashed in every corner of the planet, creating waves of refugees and immigrants.
For the WFTU, solidarity with the immigrants and the refugees is a principal task of the class trade union movement against capitalism and capitalist exploitation. Therefore, we call on the people of America and the working class of the United States to fight to undo the racist decisions of the United States government. At the same time, once more we point out that the true solution for the workers of all over the world lays in the fight against the causes that provoke poverty and imperialist wars.
